Her blue eyes reminded him of the beaches back home. On those occasions, with the fiery touch of the sun tickling the back of his neck, he would run, childlike, toward the crash of the waves and plunge into the water white with foam, wading out further and further into the cool, salty crests, dunking his head under and coming up scattering diamonds from his hair, knowing that soon, very soon, he would be swept off his feet and tossed head over heels back down into the crystal blue waters so that up was down and down was in with the thunder of the seven seas filling his ears and his head and his entire consciousness while his heartbeat drummed madly in his temples. Disoriented, wonderously shaken, the rushing ocean embracing every last corner of his being, he frantically strokes about for that clear barrier of water and sky, for the shimmering shafts of golden sunlight cascading about him, illuminating the silvery sand beneath him, finally beneath him, with glorious flickers of light flashing into his heart and soul - finally breaking through the invisible firmament of white and azure, he gasps and gulps and drinks in the painfully clear air, his lungs rejoicing at the breath of salt and sea and love, unexpected, undeniable, unfathomable adulation, seeing as though for the first time the soft, white clouds dotting the sky, the sapphire sky, hearing anew the creeees of the birds and the impossibly muted roar of the frothing, surging swells. . . it was a rapturous moment every time he saw her, heard her sweet voice echoing throughout the chambers of love's pearly, gold-laced cockleshell, almost catching in his mind the faint scent of the sea and sun as she walks by him with a captivating smile and a knowing look that suddenly makes his heart count two steps before starting up again. . .
